How Expensive is Advertising for Smaller Business

Advertising is the discipline of reaching out to new customers, and as such it is a cornerstone of business. For the bad rap that advertising gets, without it we wouldn’t have smaller businesses, who wouldn’t be able to compete against the better exposure of larger companies.

But is advertising fundamentally more challenging for smaller companies, simply because of the costs involved? The answer is yes and no.
Some forms of advertising are prohibitively expensive for smaller companies. For instance, it is unlikely that a small or local business could afford a national television advertisement, simply because they don’t have the money to outlay.

However, whilst some forms of advertising are fundamentally expensive, many others are cheap and some are even free. For instance, you can access cheap flyer printing companies online, and these will allow you to print business cards, flyers and brochures for a relatively low cost.

This kind of physical or paper marketing can be extremely effective, especially if you focus on a specific geographical area and have local appeal. Flyers can be posted around the local area, simply through people’s letterboxes or brochures can be posted out with product orders.

You might also consider digital marketing, set up a presence on social media sites like Facebook and move part of your operations online. The big advantage here is that digital marketing can be free, and is at least very inexpensive.
